Horse Play Farms needs Volunteers/Donations

Ruth Jenkins, Founder and CEO of Horseplay Farms and Home of Our Heroes spoke to Post 68 members earlier this year.  Horseplay Farms and Home of Our Heroes in Bolivia, NC needs volunteers at the farm and also in Castle Hayne (see addresses below). The federal government has already shut down a lot of its relief efforts, stating that the disaster is over.

Visit their website at (www.ourheroesinc.org) and you will see that they have established the Eastern NC Equine Emergency Assistance (ENCEEA) Division to provide emergency relief supplies (horse hay and feed, dog and cat food and other supplies) for Brunswick County and 5 surrounding counties that were hit the hardest by Hurricane Florence and then Michael.

The farm needs financial and volunteer support to rebuild 2 of their pasture shelters.  ENCEEA, in particular, is in critical need of volunteers to help receive and distribute goods at the Castle Hayne address, volunteers to deliver feed and supplies to people who can't get there, and gas/diesel money.  Volunteers have been paying out of their own pockets but can only do so for so long.

ENCEEA's distribution center is located at 4101 Blue Clay Road in Castle Hayne in the Old Burton Steel Mill building on Mondays and Thursdays from 5 PM to 9 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM to 9 PM.  You may also call the number below.

Horseplay Farms is located at 1757 Clemmons Rd SE, Bolivia, NC 28422.  Phone (910) 253-7722.

If you are interested in donating or can otherwise help, contact Jennifer Witkowsi at easternnceea@gmail.com or donate at http://www.ourheroesinc.org/ways-to-give.html

Our Heroes, Inc Appeal Letter is available and Thanks for any assistance given.
