7/27/18 - Veterans to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — American Legion Post 68, Leland, is coordinating a program to help veterans travel to Washington, D.C., to see the war memorials.

All veterans are invited to join the post on this journey regardless of their branch of service, length of service, or where or when they served. The opportunity to see these monuments, especially with those who served with you, has shown to be very rewarding. It has helped many find the closure they have sought for so many years.

The journey is planned for Oct.

4-7. The trip agenda will include transportation to and from Leland, three nights’ accommodation, tours of Arlington Cemetery, war memorials, and museums.

Tours of the White House and Capitol Hill will also be included.

The post are also fundraising to help offset the costs for these vets. If you can’t make the trip, consider a donation at https://www.gofundme.com/ veterans-to-washington-project For more information contact Gerald Decker at:gdecker1226@gmail.com or 706-424-0830.

Any veteran interested in joining Post 68 is welcome to attend.

The meeting is held at 6 p.m. the third Thursday of every month at Blossoms Restaurant, Magnolia Greens Golf Course. Membership information and applications are available on Post 68’s website at www.ncpost68.org.
